A LETTER FROM GOD (a brief explanation of Christianity)

A LOVE LETTER FROM YOUR FATHER

Dear Daughters and Sons,

Hello! Do you remember me?I'm your Heavenly Father. Why haven't I heard from you for so long?I miss you so much when you don't contact me daily.I don't believe you will ever fully realize how much I love you. (John 3:16)You know I chose you when I planned creation don't you? (Ephesians 1:11-12) I also made you in my image (Genesis 1:27). Trust me I keep close track of your activities (Psalm 139:3).Here's a good way I can explain my love for you;my thoughts of you are as countless as the sand on the seashore. (Psalm 139:17-18).

I am love (1 John 4:16) and the greatest commandment that I have for you is that you love also (Matthew 22:37-40). My love is made complete when you receive my love for you and then love others as well as me and my Son just as we have loved you (1 John 4:7-21).Your love needs to be so great that it will overwhelm and emotionally disable your enemies both domestic and foreign (Matthew 5:44). To show you how to live a life of love and loyalty I've given you my Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17).

I know that you have sinned by breaking my laws (1 John 1:8).You must realize that you have hurt others and you have also hurt yourself by doing this(Romans 2:9). I consider your sins to be a personal attack against me (Psalm 51:4). Why have you hurt me (Luke 19:41) and angered me in this way (Romans 2:8). I am your Lord (Exodus 6:2), the King of Kings (1 Timothy 6:15), and your Righteous Judge (1 Peter 4:5).Don't you realize the meaning of that?I must warn you that it's a terrible thing to come under my judgment (Hebrews 10:31). To fear me will be the beginning of your wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). But you do not need to remain afraid of me because I am your compassionate and gracious Father, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness for you.(Exodus 34:6). By getting to know my perfect love you will find that your fear will be removed (1 John 4:18)

I have come to you through my Son Jesus, not to Lord my authority and power over you, but to serve you. (John 13:13-14)Yes to serve you. I have loved you from the beginning, long before you loved me. (1 John 4:19). I sent my son Jesus, the exact representation of my being (Hebrews 1:3), to die in your place because of your sins (Romans 5:8), to take upon Himself the punishment that you deserved (Isaiah 53:5).My children dwell upon that thought and internalize it in your consciousness.
Now I have come again to knock on the door of your heart, waiting for you to let me in (Revelation 3:20). When you give your faith, trust and loyalty to my Son Jesus I will forgive you for your sins (Acts 10:43) and I promise you,I will not remember them anymore (Isaiah 43:25).

I want so much to adopt you into my family (Ephesians 1:5) and lavish upon you my fatherly love forever(1John 3:1).You will not continue to ignore me will you? Respond to me now!I love you so much!PLEASE BELIEVE ME.Come to me so that I can fellowship with you. Please do not withhold your affection from me any longer.I will send my Holy Spirit to you to turn you into a brand new person (2 Corinthians 5:17) and give you a new life filled with my righteousness(Romans 6:4). I will send you true purity of both thought and deeds through my Holy Spirit as a gift. Just ask me for it and then start living a life of morality and discipline. Your body will become a temple for my Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19) and I will turn you into a saint. (Ephesians 1:18).

I want to make your righteousness shine like my beautiful dawns (Psalm 37:6). I have called you out and I will be faithful to give you all the help you will need to live a holy life(1 Thessalonians 5:24). So when you are tempted to sin, think of my ways and then look for the way out of your corruption that I will provide for you.(1 Corinthians 10:13).When you fail remember that I am waiting for you with open arms;I will always be quick to forgive you and to give you another chance to live a moral and pure life following the teachings of my Son Jesus(Luke 15:11-31).

I want nothing more than to give you the moral desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4) and to do more for you than you can imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Whatever you need, look to me and I will provide for you within my teachings(Philippians 4:19). TRUST ME ON THIS!I will give you love, joy, peace, and all the fruits of my Spirit, in order to fill your soul so you can share my gifts with others (Galatians 5:22-23).
Since I think about you forever never worry about getting your needs met. (Matthew 6:25-34). Turn over your problems to me and I will comfort you (Matthew 11:28). I want to send you my Holy Spirit to be your Comforter and Counselor (John 14-16).Then you won't walk alone any more (Galatians 5:25) I will direct all your paths (Proverbs 3:4-5) Do you understand this?I want to bless you with all my spiritual power (Ephesians 1:3). Please always remember that as my child you will be safe in my hands and arms (John 10:28). I want to be your refuge (Psalm 9:9). I am like a mother bird who covers her young ones with feathers in a nest (Psalm 91:1-4).

When you pass through rivers of difficulty you will not be swept away. When you walk through fiery trials you will not be burned,I WILL BE WITH YOU TO PROTECT YOU!(Isaiah 43:2). So when you must walk through the valley of the shadow of death never become afraid because I am with you, comforting and protecting you (Psalm 23:4). TRUST ME ON THIS!! I will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).Are you now beginning to understand just how much I love you?My love for you will never cease throughout all of eternity! When you are brokenhearted I will draw close to you (Psalm 34:18).But you need to come to me and ask for my help. Then I will cry with you (John 11:35).

Like a shepherd holding his lamb, I will always carry you close to my heart if you ask me to do so(Isaiah 40:11). I will collect all your tears in my bottle and record each one in my holy book (Psalm 56:8). I always want to comfort you in your times of mourning (Matthew 5:4).Come to me so that I can turn your mourning into gladness (Jeremiah 31:13) and put a new song in your heart.(Psalm 40:3). When enemies come against you I will fight for you (Psalm 44:7). Even when you do what is right people will insult you, criticize you, and mistreat you, but do not despair,I will bless you (Matthew 5:11). Even when you trust your father and mother they may forsake you, but I will receive you then(Psalm 27:10). If you find yourself poor remember that I have blessed you with true riches (Luke 6:20). If you find yourself last in line remember that with me those who are last will be first (Matthew 20:16).Oh how I wish the leaders of your nation would finally understand my ways.
Always remember that I am for you and not against you! (Romans 8:31) I know that I have been misrepresented to you by seemingly religious people who claim to know me but they never have. (John 8:41-44) Trust me,I will cast away these hypocrites (Matthew 23). When your earthly father disappoints you, just remember that I offer you more than he ever could (Matthew 7:9-11). I will be the perfect Father for you (Matthew 5:48), the Father from whom all true fatherhood comes (Ephesians 3:15).I love to give you the blessed gifts from my Holy Spirit(Matthew 7:11).
With me on your side your future is bright and full of hope! My plans are to prosper you and never to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Even hardships, as painful as they may be, can be for your good because they are opportunities for you to become more righteousness (Hebrews 12; 6-11). Always remember that when you love me and seek my purposes that all things will work together for your good (Romans 8:28). You will see that happen if you remain faithful. But always remember that I have given you gifts so that you can serve me (Matthew 25:14-23). I want to make you truly great in my kingdom (Psalm 18:35). Discover what your gifts are and then use them to help others (Romans 12:4-8) because I have important work for you to do; work that I will help you accomplish (Haggai 2:4). Together we can accomplish great dreams (Mark 10:27) and even move mountains of tremendous difficulties (Matthew 17:20).

Never forget this, you are my everlasting beloved children! (1 John 3:1) You will always be precious and honored in my sight (Isaiah 43:4).In fact do you know that I actually rejoice over you by singing! (Zephaniah 3:17).Yes it is true. I will always love you (Jeremiah 31:3) and there is nothing that can ever separate you from my love (Romans 8:38-39). PLEASE BELIEVE ME IN THIS!It is so important to me that you NEVER forget this. Will you honor my request?
One day soon I will wipe away your tears and take away your pain forever(Revelation 21:3-4) and reward you for all the good that you have done in my name and in the name of my Son Jesus(Revelation 22:12). Then we will be together forever in the heavenly home that I have prepared for you (John 14:2). I know that it is more beautiful and more wonderful than you can ever imagine (Revelation 21:10-27).I have created it to be so.

Love,
God

P.S. When it's hard for you to trust my words and to fully receive my love into your heart then work through this problem with one of my ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20) and become involved in a caring Christian community where you can grow into my love (Romans 12:5).OH HOW I LONG WITH ALL MY HEART AND SPIRIT FOR YOU TO DO THAT!PLEASE COME TO ME NOW!!

The eggplant has been celebrated as an aphrodisiac and feared as the cause of insanity. Today it is appreciated for both its inspiring beauty and delightful flavor. An essential ingredient in cuisines around the world, it is the essence of Greek moussaka, Middle Eastern baba ganoush, Italian eggplant parmigiana, and French ratatouille. The emergence of Asian cuisine has introduced a whole new range of eggplants flavoring delicious stir-fries and curries. Gardens and markets are filled with eggplants in a variety of sizes from small and pea-like, to egg shaped, to long and slender. Their fruits offer a stunning color palette from the traditional royal purple to shades of rose, violet, green, yellow and white, often enhanced with lovely stripes in a contrasting color.

History

Eggplant is believed to have originated in India and was cultivated in China as early as 500 B.C. Eaten in the Middle East and Asia for centuries, it was taken to Africa by the Arabs and Persians during the Middle Ages, eventually finding its way to Italy in the 14th century. Even though eggplants were consumed without hesitation in other parts of the world, it was not eaten by all Europeans. In fact it was called mala insana—the mad apple or bad egg. The fruit was considered dangerous because it belonged to the nightshade family which contains many poisonous plants including jimson weed, angel’s trumpet, belladonna and deadly nightshade.

Louis XIV during his reign in the 1600’s was among the first in Europe to introduce eggplant to the table. Unfortunately, the fruit was not well received and was said to “be as large as pears, but with bad qualities.” It was also thought that eating eggplant caused fever, epilepsy and even insanity. For more than a century eggplants were grown for their ornamental value by the Europeans who prized the plant’s beautiful purple, star-shaped flowers and colorful fruits but found its bitter flavor unappealing.

Eggplant was introduced to the United States in the early 1800’s by our third president, Thomas Jefferson. An avid gardener, Jefferson was interested in discovering new plants and grew many flowers and vegetables from around the world in his extensive gardens at Monticello. Again because of its botanical connection to other poisonous plants, eggplant was slow to gain acceptance as an edible vegetable. Plants remained an ornamental curiosity until the late 1800’s and early 1900’s when Chinese and Italian immigrants arrived in America. Both of these cultures had a long and rich tradition of using eggplants in their cuisine and helped to spur culinary approval of the eggplant in North America.

Chilling and thought-provoking story

Everything God does is done with perfection. Yet, my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is God’s plan reflected in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query. The father continued.

"I believe," the father answered, "that when God brings a child like Shay into the world, an opportunity to realize the Divine Plan presents itself. And it comes in the way people treat that child."

Then, he told the following story: Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball.

Shay asked, "Do you think they will let me play?"

Shay’s father knew that most boys would not want him on their team. But the father understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging.

Shay’s father approached one of the boys on the field and asked if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance from his teammates.

Getting none, he took matters into his own hands and said, "We are losing by six runs, and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him up to bat in the ninth inning."

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay’s team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

At the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the outfield. Although no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay’s team scored again. Now, with two outs and bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base.

Shay was scheduled to be the next at-bat. Would the team actually let Shay bat at this juncture and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn’t even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher moved a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least be able to make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly toward Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball to the pitcher.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could easily have thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have ended the game.

Instead, the pitcher took the ball and threw it on a high arc to right field, far beyond reach of the first baseman.

Everyone started yelling, "Shay, run to first. Run to first." Never in his life had Shay ever made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. Everyone yelled "Run to second, run to second!"

By the time Shay was rounding first base, the right fielder had the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second baseman for a tag. But the right fielder understood what the pitcher’s intentions had been, so he threw the ball high and far over the third baseman’s head.

Shay ran towards second base as the runners ahead of him deliriously circled the bases towards home.

As Shay reached second base, the opposing shortstop ran to him, turned him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third!"

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams were screaming, "Shay! Run home!" Shay ran home, stepped on home plate and was cheered as the hero, for hitting a "grand slam" and winning the game for his team.

"That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of the Divine Plan into this world."

So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice: Do we pass along a spark of the Divine? Or do we pass up that opportunity, and leave the world a bit colder in the process?

Aniseed is a member of the parsley family and native to the Eastern Mediterranean. Nowadays it grows in all warm climates. Anethole is the oil that accounts for the distinctive sweet-licorice taste. Both the leaves and the seeds have this flavoring, which is used in breads, cakes, and confections in parts of Europe and the Middle East, in curry and seafood dishes in India and neighboring countries, in various dishes in Southeast Asia, and as the flavoring of such alcoholic drinks as the French pastis and Greek ouzo. It is also chewed after a meal in India to sweeten the breath. And, yes, the seeds are used whole or ground.

Anise or Aniseed, less commonly anís (stressed on the first syllable) (Pimpinella anisum) is a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to the eastern Mediterranean region and southwest Asia. It is a herbaceous annual plant growing to 50 cm tall. The leaves at the base of the plant are simple, 2-5 cm long and shallowly lobed, while leaves higher on the stems are feathery pinnate, divided into numerous leaflets. The flowers are white, 3 mm diameter, produced in dense umbels. The fruit is an oblong dry schizocarp, 3-5 mm long.

Its other names are Anise, Aniseed, Sweet Cumin, star anise, Chinese anise, illicium. Its seed, leaves, oil, and anethole are what it is commonly valued for.

Anise leaves are used to treat digestive problems, to relieve toothache, and its essential oil is used to treat lice and scabies. In India, aniseed (Saunf in Hindi ) is also used as mouth freshener. It is also used for flavoring some foods.

Historically, this herb had been used for many centuries. The ancient Greeks, including Hippocrates, prescribed it for coughs. Ancient Romans used Anise in a special cake that concluded their enormous feasts. Historically, the herb was used because of its flavor (licorice flavor), as an aid for digestion, as an aphrodisiac, for colic and to combat nausea.

Ancient Chinese physicians used the herb as a digestive aid, flatulence remedy, and breath freshener. Early English herbalists recommended the herb for hiccups, for promoting milk production for nursing mothers, for treatment of water retention, headache, asthma. Bronchitis, insomnia, nausea, lice, infant colic, cholera, and even cancer.

But what about its aphrodisiac properties?

Because of its aromatic and countless medical properties, it was traditionally considered as an aphrodisiac. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed that you could increase desire by sucking on anise seeds. Also, its sweet, licorice taste is believed in many cultures to stimulate the libido and increase desire. It also contains estrogenic compounds (female hormones) which have been reported to induce similar effects to testosterone hence an increase in male potency and libido.

Aphrodisiac

An aphrodisiac is a substance which is used in the belief that it increases sexual desire. The name comes from Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of sensuality. Throughout history, many foods, drinks, and behaviors have had a reputation for making sex more attainable and/or pleasurable. However, from a historical and scientific standpoint, the alleged results may have been mainly due to mere belief by their users that they would be effective (i.e., the placebo effect). In particular, medical science has not substantiated claims that any particular food increases sexual desire or performance.

Throughout the centuries, emperors and everyday folk alike have ingested, imbibed, sprinkled, or applied almost every conceivable substance—from almond paste to zebra tongues—in the hope of arousing sexual desire. Whether to woo a reluctant lover, revive a flagging libido, or pique carnal pleasure and performance, lovers the world over have relied on aphrodisiacs to do the trick. But which ones have the greatest reputations for potency (and why?) and do any of them really work?

Aphrodisiacs Through the Ages

The association between food and eroticism is primal, but some foods have more aphrodisiacal qualities than others. Biblical heroines, ancient Egyptians, and Homeric sorceresses all swore by the root and fruit of the mandrake plant. The grape figured prominently in the sensual rites of Greek Dionysian cults, and well-trained geishas have been known to peel plump grapes for their pampered customers. Fermented, of course, grape juice yields wine, renowned for loosening inhibitions and enhancing attraction (though as Shakespeare's porter wryly notes in Macbeth, alcohol "provokes the desire, but it takes away the performance"). Honey sweetens the nectarlike philters prescribed in the Kama Sutra to promote sexual vigor, and the modern "honeymoon" harks back to the old custom for newlyweds to drink honeyed mead in their first month of marriage. Grains like rice and wheat have long been associated with fertility if not with love, and Avena sativa (green oats), an ingredient in many over-thecounter sexual stimulants, may explain why young people are advised to "sow their wild oats." Numerous herbs and spices—basil, mint, cinnamon, cardamom, fenugreek, ginger, pepper, saffron, and vanilla, to name a few—appear in ancient and medieval recipes for love potions, as well as in lists of foodstuffs forbidden in convents because of their aphrodisiac properties.

Among other delicacies banned by the Church in centuries past were black beans, avocados, and chocolate, presumably all threats to chastity. And truffles—both earthy black and ethereal white—caused religious consternation in the days of the Arab empire. One story has it that the muhtasib of Seville tried to prohibit their sale anywhere near a mosque, for fear they would corrupt the morals of good Muslims. For those who held debauchery in higher esteem, the list of favored aphrodisiacs was bound only by the imagination. The herb valerian, noted for its stimulant properties at lower doses, was long a brothel favorite, and yu-jo, professional women of pleasure in feudal Japan, supplemented their charms with the aphrodisiacal powers of eels, lotus root, and charred newts.

From Symbol to Science

How did certain foods come to be regarded as aphrodisiacs in the first place? In some cases, legendary associations play a likely role: Cleopatra is rumored to have rubbed her private parts with a honey-almond mixture that drove Mark Antony mad. Some believe that the Aztec ruler Montezuma fortified himself with upwards of fifty cups of chocolate before visiting his harem (though more scholarly reports contend it was the conquistadors who sought such reinforcement). Casanova famously boasted of seducing a virgin by slipping a raw oyster into her mouth. Madame du Barry is said to have used ginger in a custardy concoction that stirred Louis XV to passion. And because Aphrodite, Greek goddess of sexual love, was said in myth to be born from the sea, a beguiling array of seafoods have been deemed aphrodisiacs (her very name is the source of the word).

Symbolism, too, plays an obvious part. During the Middle Ages, the Law of Similarities, or Doctrine of Signatures, held that in God's universe "like causes like," so suggestively shaped and textured substances were believed to enhance virility and fertility by virtue of their resemblance to sexual organs. Firm, elongated asparagus, sea cucumbers, and ginseng (literally, "manroot") and moist, fleshy figs, peaches, and oysters are prime examples. Other symbolic aphrodisiacs are rhinoceros horn and deer antler and the sex organs of animals known for their virility or procreative fervor, such as the tiger or rabbit.

Some foods are exalted as aphrodisiacs by virtue of their rarity or luxury. Bird's nest soup, foie gras, caviar, truffles, and champagne are all, even if no longer necessarily difficult to obtain, still suggestive of wealth and largesse, playing into the age-old association among food, sex, and the provision of resources. Certain foods also lend themselves to particularly sensual dining rituals and modes of eating. Preparing food tableside with competence and élan, consuming whole ripe fruits or succulent birds or crustaceans, eating with the hands, licking fingers coated in delectable juices, feeding one's partner, sharing food from a common platter, sucking and slurping seductively—such acts and rituals constitute true foreplay for culinarily inclined lovers.

"No one has ever succeeded at seduction by means of food alone," wrote Manuel Vázquez Montalbán in his Immoral Recipes, "but there's a long list of those who have seduced by talking about that which was about to be eaten." Certainly, stimulating the mind helps stoke the sexual appetite, and it is our social and cultural associations that imbue certain foods with erotic meanings. But is there solid scientific evidence to support the claims made for aphrodisiacs beyond their placebo effect?

Proponents of chocolate point out that it contains phenylethylamine, or PEA, the brain chemical believed to underlie the euphoric sensation of being "in love." But eating chocolate has not been found to actually increase PEA levels in the body. The chili pepper may have a stronger claim to its fiery reputation: it quickens the pulse and induces sweating, mimicking the state of sexual arousal, and has also been shown to stimulate the release of endorphins, naturally occurring opiates that play a role in sexual pleasure. Ginkgo biloba, said to boost both mental and sexual performance, may restore or enhance physical function by increasing blood flow to the genitals, but the safety and efficacy of this herbal enhancer are still unclear (heart patients and those on aspirin need to be especially cautious). Garlic may promote potency through a similar mechanism, with its high content of arginine, an amino acid that enhances blood flow and could thereby augment erections. The lure of the elusive truffle may derive in part from a pheromonelike chemical it contains, similar to one secreted in the saliva of male pigs to attract sows. And the oyster, that consummate aphrodisiac, is noted not only for its fleshy, briny sensuality but also for its rich supply of zinc, which may aid normal sperm production and libido (though it is unlikely that oysters make a difference in any but the most zinc-deficient diets).

The Ultimate Aphrodisiac

Overall, aphrodisiacs seem to be more the stuff of folklore than of science. But in the realm of food and love, the power of the imagination is not to be ignored—believing something's an aphrodisiac may well make it so. Yet all the oysters in the world cannot take the place of the ultimate aphrodisiac. As the Roman philosopher Seneca once promised, "I will show you a philter without potions, without herbs, without any witch's incantation—if you wish to be loved, love."

Fortunately, safer drugs are now available to aid impotence, and people experiencing sexual dysfunction are well advised to seek medical advice.

Inspirational Story

He almost didn’t see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road. But even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so....was he going to hurt her?

He did not look safe, he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fear can put in you. He said, "I’m here to help you ma’am. Why don’t you wait in the car where it is warm? By the way, my name is Bryan."

Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt. As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him.

She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through. She could not thank him enough for coming to her aid. Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk. She asked him how much she owed him. Any amount would have been all right with her. She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped.

Bryan never thought twice about the money. This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty who had given him a hand in the past. He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way. He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, "... and think of me."

He waited until she started her car and drove off. It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight. A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe. She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home. It was a dingy looking restaurant. Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her. The cash register was like the telephone of an out-of-work actor-it didn’t ring much.

Her waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair. She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn’t erase. The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger. Then she remembered Bryan.

After the lady finished her meal, and the waitress went to get change for her hundred-dollar bill, the lady slipped right out the door. She was gone by the time the waitress came back. The waitress wondered where the lady could be, then she noticed something written on the napkin under which was four $100 bills. There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote: "You don’t owe me anything, I have been there too.

Somebody once helped me out, the way I’m helping you. If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you."

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve, but the waitress made it through another day.

That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed, she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written. How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it? With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard.

She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, "Everything’s going to be all right; I love you, Bryan." There is an old saying "What goes around comes around." Let this light shine.

Thoughts For Today:

Maybe God wanted us to meet the wrong people
before meeting the right ones,
so that when we finally meet them
we will know how to be grateful for the gift.

There are moments in life
when you miss someone so
much that you just want
to pick them from your dreams
and hug them for real.

Chemical contraceptives

*Spermicides (that is, chemicals which destroy sperms) were quite widely used until recently. One advantage of these products is that you can buy them from any pharmacy without prescription. But these agents really shouldn't be employed on their own, because they're not effective enough. If you use them by themselves, there's a high chance that sperm will get through sometimes - and cause pregnancy. So, all family planning experts agree that chemical contraception should only be used in combination with a 'barrier method' - such as a condom, diaphragm or a cap. The chemicals make these barrier methods more effective.

In other words, fewer pregnancies will occur if you use a condom, diaphragm or cap with a spermicidal chemical. From time to time, manufacturers may suggest that these agents are so good that they can be used on their own! Don't pay any attention to these claims. However, if you’re both really desperate to make love, then a chemical contraceptive is certainly better than nothing at all.

How do chemical contraceptives work?

They mainly work by killing sperm inside the vagina. They do this because they contain a spermicide - that is, an agent which attacks sperm. The commonest spermicide used in these products is called nonoxinol-‘9’. How do you use them? You put them into the vagina before intercourse. Either the woman or the man can do this. Some couples actually make it part of love play! In the case of solid preparations, you must give them time (say, 30 minutes) to dissolve before you start having sex. Follow the instructions on the leaflet in the package.

What types of chemical contraceptives are there?
There are various kinds and which one you choose is up to you. Generally people make their choice on the basis of what appeals to them aesthetically. For instance, one couple may prefer the feel, appearance and taste of foam, while others prefer the simplicity of a vaginal tablet.

The main types are as follows.
*Foams - These are in aerosol form and you insert them into the vagina with a special applicator, immediately before sex.

*Vaginal tablets - These are also widely known as pessaries. In some books about sex, you may still find them referred to as 'suppositories'. This term has now been dropped - because most people understand the word 'suppository' to mean something put into the rectum. As they’re solid, you must give them time (half an hour) to dissolve before you nake love.

*Gels, jellies and creams - These are mainly intended for spreading onto contraceptive diaphragms or caps before insertion.

*Films - Squares of contraceptive film are still marketed in some countries, though they have fallen out of favour in the UK. At one time, manufacturers suggested that the film should be put on the tip of the penis before the start of intercourse. This is very risky, and I do not recommend it! It will probably fall off.

*Sponges - Sponges containing spermicide were popular back in the 1990s but have now rather dropped out of fashion in Western countries, due to a high pregnancy rate (24 per cent in one recent trial). A new type of sponge is due to be marketed in the UK during 2006, and it could certainly be of help to women whose fertility is already low - for instance, those over the age of 45, and breastfeeding mothers.

Can chemicals harm you?

Various fragrances, colourings and other components are contained in spermicidal products. Not surprisingly, both men and women can become allergic to these ingredients. Symptoms of allergy include soreness, swelling, redness and itching. If allergy occurs, take medical advice and then switch to another product (or method).Nonoxinol-‘9’ has recently been shown to cause vaginal irritation in some women who use a great deal over a long period of time. But unless you are having sex all day long, this is unlikely to apply to you.At present, there is no information as to whether spermicidal products could harm a baby, if pregnancy occurred. Please note that in some countries, pharmacists may still be selling old-fashioned spermicidal products which can attack rubber. These products, which are mainly oil-based, could make holes in rubber condoms or caps.

Will spermicidal chemicals protect you against disease?

No. There has been some publicity about the fact that nonoxinol-'9' has an anti-germ action. Nonetheless, it cannot give you any worthwhile protection against chlamydia, HIV or other sex infections.

Will spermicidal chemicals last all night?

No. In general, spermicides are only effective for about 45 to 60 minutes. If you go on having sex longer than that (or if you have sex twice), you need to insert a top-up of spermicide. What brands are available? This varies from country to country. The only brand on sale in the UK in 2008 is Gygel, which is a gel that won't harm condoms, diaphragms or caps.

Perspiration

A common problem among us all through out the summer season is perspiration or sweating.

What is Perspiration?

It is an internal fluid consisting mainly of water and salt that exits through the pours of your skin, to help cool down the body. It may occur during or after exercise, while sitting in the beautiful sunshine or when feelings of nervousness and anxiety are experienced. Perspiration can be handled in various ways and below is some information on what causes excessive perspiration and what you can do to help prevent it.

Common Causes:
-Genes: Some people inherit the unfortunate trait of excessive sweating, especially on the palms or soles of their feet.
-Diet: Drinking hot beverages and especially those with caffeine or alcohol. Eating spicy food can have a sweating affect.
-Fevers: Occurs when the body's temperature rises above its normal level and reacts by sweating excessively to help cool the body down at an efficient rate.
-Low Blood Sugar (hypoglycemia): Common in those who have diabetes. Common symptoms of hypoglycemia include sweating, shakiness, weakness, hunger, dizziness and nausea.
-Menopause: Women experiencing menopause have hot flashes which causes a rise in temperature accompanied by sweating and feeling of intense heat (due to drop in estrogen levels).
-Low Levels of Male Hormones: Men with low testosterone levels (condition known as hypogonadism) caused by reduced functioning of the testicles can also experience hot flashes.

Reducing Perspiration:
-Bathe Daily: Prevents bacteria from growing on the skin's surface, which causes an odor when mixed with perspiration.
-Dry Thoroughly After Bathing: Bacteria thrive on damp spaces.
-Wear Proper Foot Wear: Shoes made of natural material (such as leather) help feet breathe. Wear socks made of cotton or wool and pantyhose with cotton soles as they help keep feet dry by absorbing any moisture.
-Choose Natural Fiber Clothing: Wear natural fabrics such as cotton, wool and silk, which allow your skin to breath. When exercising wear high tech fabrics that keep moisture away from the skins surface.
-Relaxation Techniques:
If stress is a factor, try yoga or meditation; it may help you to control your stress level, therefore lowering perspiration.
-Air Feet Out: Go barefoot when you can, or at least slip out of your shoes from time to time. This allows your feet to breath, helps keep them dry and cools down the entire body.

How to Love

How to Love

Love is a strange thing. It can be the most amazing feeling in the world, or it can really hurt, but in the end love is something most, if not all of us, will face. While there are many different ways to define love and there are many different ways to love someone (even yourself), here is a general guide to loving.

Steps

*Say it. When you say the words I love you, they should carry with them the desire to show someone that you love them, not what you simply want to feel. When you say it make sure you really mean it and are willing to do anything for that special person.

*Empathize. Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Rather than impose your own expectations or attempt to control them, try to understand how they feel, where they come from, and who they are. Realize how they could also love you back just as well.

*Love unconditionally. If you cannot love another person without attaching stipulations, then it is not love at all, but deep-seated opportunism (one who makes the most of an advantage, often unmindful of others). If your interest is not in the other person as such, but rather in how that person can enhance your experience of life, then it is not unconditional. If you have no intention of improving that person’s life, or allowing that person to be themselves and accepting them as they are, and not who you want them to be, then you are not striving to love them unconditionally.

*Expect nothing in return. That doesn't mean you should allow someone to mistreat or undervalue you. It means that giving love does not guarantee receiving love. Try loving just for the sake of love. Realize that someone may have a different way of showing his or her love for you, do not expect to be loved back in exactly the same way.

*Realize it can be lost. If you realize that you can lose the one you love, then you have a greater appreciation of what you have. Think how lucky you are to have someone to love.
